Chickenfoot Preview New Material

chickenfoot

The first new music by the Joe Satriani, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith supergroup is now online.

The two tracks by the band have been previewed very briefly in previous posts by the band on their official website, but the songs have now been completed and added in full.

Both songs are groove based rockers based around Joe Satriani’s simply riffs, with the rhythm section keeping it heavy and Sammy Hagar doing his best “Robert Plant” over the top. In terms of sound this is pitched somewhere between Van Halen and Led Zeppelin, with what sounds like an inordinate amount of fun thrown into the mix.

No word on an album or tour yet but confirmations on both are expected soon.

As well as the two songs more info can be found at www.chickenfoot.us

How To Break In A New Set Of Guitar Strings

Have you been noticing lately that after you have put on a fresh set of guitar strings, and rock out your favorite guitar riffs for awhile, that the strings just don’t hold their tune very long? The reason for this is because new strings need to be properly stretched out. There are a few extra steps that need to be taken when you change your guitar strings.

Proper Steps to Stretching Your Guitar Strings

1. After you have finished putting on the new strings, start with the 6th string (Low E) and tune it to the proper pitch.

Helpful Tip: When you tune a brand new set of strings, it is suggested that you use an electric guitar tuner. This especially goes for beginners who are not able to recognize the correct tone by ear.

2. Next, take your fretting hand (left hand) and hold the string down at the first fret.

3. Now take your your right hand and gently pull up on the string at the fourth or fifth fret. Keeping this same method, start to work your way up the fretboard. At the same time you should keep your hands about three to four frets apart.

4. Once you have gone all the way down the sting, it will be out of pitch. You need to then return it back to the proper pitch and repeat the same process a few times.

5. After you have got the Low E string in tune, move on to the 5th string and so forth.

The gage of your strings will determine just how many repetitions will be needed. However, after each pass you will notice that the string will hold its tune longer each time. Once the pitch remains constant and accurate, this will let you know that you have properly stretched the string

Beatles consider alternative to iTunes

The Beatles are considering ditching a deal with iTunes to release their huge back catalogue of music using their own website.

Surviving bandmembers Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and the estates of the late John Lennon and George Harrison have long resisted releasing their music for digital download.

It was recently revealed they have begun negotiations with Apple about making their music available on iTunes, but Harrison’s musician son Dhani reveals The Beatles are unhappy with Apple’s offer – and may take their tunes elsewhere.

He tells Blender magazine, “We’re losing money every day. So what do you do? You have to have your own delivery system, or you have to do a good deal with Steve Jobs. But he says that a download is worth 99 cents, and we disagree.”
