Noah and the Whale’s Equipment Stolen in England

It’s one thing to have an amp, drumsticks or even a guitar case disappear on tour, but what would you do if the trailer carrying all your equipment was stolen? Unfortunately Noah and the Whale woke up Wednesday morning to find that all their instruments and even an electric toothbrush were gone.

The indie-folk band was staying the Park Inn in Manchester, England after performing Tuesday night when thieves stole the trailer from the parking lot outside the hotel. Noah and the Whale frontman Charlie Fink’s white 1963 Fender Jaguar guitar, which was the lead singer’s main instrument for some time, was one of the stolen items.

“I used that guitar for everything,” Fink told NME.com. “I used that guitar to record the album … that’s my guitar. I feel like part of my personality has been removed. It defines so much about the stuff we do, the way that stuff sounds. I’ve literally been using that Fender Jaguar  in every show, every song for years.”

The band has already filed a report with police and has asked everyone to keep a lookout on sites like eBay and Gumtree (the UK’s version of Craigslist) for the missing equipment.

Despite this setback, Noah and the Whale will continue their tour and are working out a plan for replacement instruments until they relocate theirs. Fink even joked that he’d be more than happy to borrow any fan’s guitar for the time being. “That would be really cool, everyone turning up with guitars!” Fink said. “If anyone wants to give us anything they can, or bring anything along and join in!”

For anyone who has an information regarding Noah and the Whale’s stolen gear, the band can be contacted via their website or MySpace page. And for a complete list of the missing equipment, check out their official blog.
